Sponsorship
opportunities let you donate for specific projects,
rather than have your generous donations go into a
"general fund". This form of giving also
allows you, if you want, to participate in the actual
implementation of the project. It also allows us to
"thank you" in more specific ways. And
your donation can be made in your name or as a gift to
honor someone else.
All
contributions are tax deductible for U.S. citizens and
aliens who pay U.S. taxes.
Here's a
list of sponsorship opportunities.
| $25 |
Save a Tree.
Your $25 contribution pays for the costs of
acquiring, planting, and caring for one Pau Brazil
tree for a year. For your generous donation we'll
send you a certificate and a picture of the tree
when we plant it. |
| $250 |
Annual Care. Your $250 contribution provides for the
annual care of the tree from planting to
harvesting (50% of our trees are ultimately
harvested for making bows; 50% remain forever). Not only do you receive
a certificate and a picture of the tree, your name
will be given to the artisan who purchases the
wood to create the bow. |
| $500 |
Lifetime
Care. If you want your tree to
be set aside for permanent growth, it will be and
a permanent placard will acknowledge your
contribution. |
| $500 |
Acre of
Rainforest. It costs $500 per acre to set
aside Atlantic rainforest in this area for
permanent preservation. For your generous donation
we will identify the acre with a permanent placard
acknowledging your contribution, and send you
aerial and ground photos of the acre your donation
purchased. |
| $1000 |
Sponsor
a Volunteer. Many people want to volunteer
to spend a month or more helping at the Gaia Way,
however, they cannot afford the $1000 room, board
and transportation costs. Your $1000 contribution
will help pay for a volunteer to spend a month at
the Gaia Way. If you wish to contribute in this
manner, we will send you a list of those
volunteers who are on our "waiting list"
and you will be able to choose the volunteer you
want to send. In return, the volunteer will send
you a weekly account of what they have been up to,
including pictures of the projects they are
engaged in. |
| $1500 |
Build
a Nursery. Right now we work out of a
"mark-shift" nursery. We need to build a
larger, more useful nursery which can accommodate
more trees, a greater variety of trees, and also
be used for the plants and vegetables. For your
generous contribution to nursery will be named in
your honor, and you will receive pictures of the
opening ceremony. |
| $2000 |
Tree Patrol.
It costs $2000 a year to provide protection to the
rainforest, primarily from poachers, but also from
disease and insect infestation. This pays for a
worker to patrol the area on a daily basis and
report problems if/when they exist. For your
generous contribution we will send you reports and
photos from the tree patrol. |
| $3000 |
Biologic
Control. It costs $3000 per year to employ
staff to maintain the biologic quality of each 500
acre parcel of virgin Atlantic rainforest. For
your generous donation we will send you copies of
all reports and photos related to the biologic
quality and we will name the position after you
(or someone you designate) |
| $6000 |
Tree
House.
Right now workers have to trek into and out of the
rainforest to do any work. This means that they
have less time to do the work and also that the
rainforest is continually disturbed by people
walking to and from sites. We want to build a tree
house in the middle of the rainforest which will
act as a base of operations. For
your generous donation, the house will be named in
your honor
and we will host your stay for the dedication of
the tree house. |
| $7500 |
Electricity.
The Gaia Way
currently has no electricity. In addition, more than 180 people in our rural area spend their lives without
electricity. Through a government sponsored program we
can bring electricity to these families when we
establish electricity service for the Gaia Way. |
