Wake up in the morning
when the rooster crows. Enjoy a spectacular view of the
sun rise as it comes up over the Atlantic Ocean.
Get ready for a healthy breakfast which you'll help
make. At Fazenda Peralba we have our own chickens,
fruits and vegetables, etc. So breakfast (and all your
meals) are healthy.
Get
ready to ride to work. NO, don't get your keys, get your
saddle because for most of the work you go by horse or
donkey (there are electric carts for people who are
afraid of horses, but please give it a try).
Start
working on one of our projects. Maybe you'll spend the
day cataloging the trees in the 1000+ acres of virgin
rainforest.
Or maybe
you'll check on the orchids which have been planted in
this area. Or looking at the progress in the Pernambuco
trees. Cataloging and collecting, taking pictures, or
checking on the insects, moisture, or whatever it takes.
When
you get back to the house, you'll enter your data into
our database so we can maintain the vital information.
Now it's time for
lunch. Brazilian style. You'll find the food nutritious,
delicious, and plentiful. Best of all, more than 50% of
your diet is home grown and you've helped grow it.

After lunch it's
traditional to have a siesta. Try it. You'll like it.
Maybe you'll wander down to one of the dozens of streams
that run through the property, or the 3 rivers, and have
your siesta there.
When
lunch is over it's time to return to work. You can
continue working on the project you worked on earlier,
or switch projects and try something different in the
afternoon. There's lots of work to be done at the Gaia
Way.
If you get through
early enough, you can participate in the work of the
ranch. Or maybe just watch. There's lots of things going
on, including herding cattle, growing cacao (chocolate),
growing flowers and herbs, etc.
Take time out to watch
the sunset. At the Gaia
Way we go with the flow, and sunrise and sunset are
special times of the day to stop and relax and
contemplate what's happened. How are you? What have you
done today? What does tomorrow bring?
Night
time brings the evening meal. Brazilians usually eat a
light meal at night. But be assured it will be equally
delicious and nutritious as breakfast and lunch.
After
dinner you're on your own. Maybe a trip to town which is
only a few minutes away. Or a walk around the ranch. Or
maybe you established a good relationship with one of
the animals, so you'll want to spend time with them.
